MLX770 Adapter
A mechanical adapter plate that allows an ADL150B or ADL190 to be installed directly
into the existing Avidyne MLX770 mounting location. The MLX770 was Avidyne's Iridium-based
satellite weather datalink receiver, discontinued by Avidyne.
Many aircraft (especially Cirrus SR20/SR22 with Avidyne Entegra avionics, Piper Saratoga, etc.)
still have the MLX770 mount, wiring, and Iridium antenna in place.
Plug & Play Installation
Slides into existing MLX770 mounting location
Reuses the existing Iridium antenna (same SMA connector)
Uses existing power wiring
No new holes, no soldering, no additional antennas needed
Installation time: approximately 30 minutes
Recommended ADL Device
ADL150B is the recommended choice:
Most affordable option
Best fit if aircraft already has ADS-B traffic equipment
If using ADL190 instead, an additional ADS-B antenna would need to be installed
EX5000 Display Compatibility
To display ADL weather data on the Avidyne EX5000 MFD:
MFD must run software version 8.2.2 or later
Avidyne normally charges significantly for this update
Aircraft with previous MLX770 installation: update often available at labour cost only
Without update: ADL works fully via WiFi (iPad/ForeFlight/SkyDemon)

RS232 / Flight Plan
Existing MLX770 RS232 wiring connects ADL to EX5000 for weather display
For flight plan transfer from GTN650/750 or IFD440/540: additional RS232 wire needed

Piper Saratoga
Other aircraft with previous MLX770 installation
